Interesting Things on the Internet: Edition 24

One of my all time favorite projects is back. For a few years (and many of you are familiar and excited about this) I ran a weekly newsletter about cool things in culture that I saw online. A curation of things that are interesting and well, talking points for a conversation - or even a date. I’ve had so many requests to bring this back. So here it is, picking up right where we left off with this week’s list.

The holidays are here and this year I’m HERE for it. Looks like others are too.

Best Christmas Light Displays in the US: Admittedly, I’m going to #10 next Friday. Descanso Gardens in LA is a kids nighttime paradise. We went several times last year and are planning to go a few times again. However, I think my new bumper sticker should read: “Will travel for lights,” because I want to see all of these. Especially those snowy, cold destinations.

Actually Unique Gifts: There are alot of gift guides out there… and they all feature the same things. Pop over to Cool Hunting’s Gift Guides and be prepared for alot of things you’ve never seen elsewhere. Maybe things you want, maybe things that make you giggle, maybe things you forward as an inside joke to your ex-coworker text chain.

Whole Body Wellness is IN: According to Trendwatching.com, wellness is globally moving beyond just the physical state and expanding to the whole body. In fact, 76% of global citizens now say that mental health and physical health are equally important. It’s the tip of the iceberg for the shift in the wellness space and just like the holiday lights, I’m here for it.

December Stargazing: Starting this week, through Christmas Day the nighttime sky will be lit up with magic. Full moons, Mars, and meteor showers. It’s not too late to grab a telescope to catch an amazing view.

Breaking the Sugar Cycle: If you’re planning to go all-in on holiday treats, then you may want to download this free guide from Dr. Robin Berzin of Parsley Health. Or, we could work together to kick off your New Year right.

Holiday Giving Back: Some of us may not have the fondest memories of holidays or the ability to make them the holiday’s they dream about, so let’s find a way to always give - time, money, support, etc. Here’s a list of ways you can start helping out for the season.
