Interesting Things On the Internet: Edition 14
Taking care of yourself is the hardest thing to do, the last item on your checklist, and often the most overlooked. But it’s the most important. Self-care is especially important since we’re all panic-working and working more than we used to. Most recently, I’ve recognized that I need to heal - in all aspects of my life - and am taking steps to do so. Two of my favorites are below. Enjoy!
Fab Four Fundamentals: I recently completed this month-long, Zoom-based nutrition course with Kelly LeVeque and was blown away. Yes, by the knowledge I gained and the once a week virtual team I was apart of… but truly, because Kelly is a smart, confident, and proud woman. She’s an expert at her craft, and it was magic seeing her shine. The next session of the class starts this week, and there will be one more in September. Flag it. It’s/she’s great.
Compassion Training: Last year, I was looking for peace and signed up for an 8-week compassionate meditation course, in hopes that I’d eventually get certified to be a CCT instructor. The truth is, I’m not great at meditating, but there are still huge parts of the course - meditation and life lessons - that I use each day.
Somatypes: Tired of being called “athletic?” Take a look at different body type labels tied to your athletic ability.
Carbs = Aging, Yikes: It’s true, carby goodness can age you. But Dr. Valter Longo (deep dive on him, his practice is fascinating!!) has some pro tips to combat the inevitable gracefully.
Why Am I Tired?: Another service I signed up for (and love) is Parsley Health. Functional medicine doctors and health coaches at the ready, and email or a beneficial virtual session away. Plus, little known fact, all the supplements in their shop are white-labeled and discounted from the best of the best vitamin companies - Nordic Naturals, Thorne, Pure Encapsulations, etc.
Mobility for Pain Reduction: While stretching feels fantastic, it may not help you move better in the long-term. Here are some solid tips to improve your mobility and get your flexibility back.
